CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department hosted over 100 attendees at its community cookout Saturday at the Cullman Housing Authority.

CPD Public Relations Officer Adam Clark said they truly enjoyed bringing the event back and plan to host it again, annually, but rotate locations.

“We would like to thank everyone who came out to the community cookout,” Clark said. “We enjoy being able to serve the community and build positive relationships.”

Clark said he wanted to thank all the officers and the Daystar Church volunteers who came out to assist with the cookout.

“We had around 10 volunteers and 10 officers who participated in the cookout,” Clark said. “We truly enjoyed hosting this event. It’s always an honor to serve our community. We look forward to serving again at some of the other events we have planned this year.”

Chief David Nassetta said the department is glad for the opportunity to get the community cookouts restarted.

“It’s a chance for our officers to interact with residents in a social setting rather than a response to a call,” Nassetta said. “Oftentimes, when we get called, it’s to deal with something negative. It’s a nice change of pace to talk to people when nothing bad is happening.”

If you or a local business/organization would like to sponsor or volunteer at the next event, contact Clark at 256-775-7162.
