Funeral services for Jelia Suzanne Day will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville, AL. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Reverend John Jankens will be officiating. Visitation for the public will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Ms. Day was born on April 19, 1970, in Lauderdale County, Alabama. She passed away on July 7, 2023, at home in Calera, Alabama. Ms. Day attended the University of Montevallo where she obtained her master’s degree in education. She was also a certified Athletic Trainer and worked with the Shelby County Board of Education where she was a High School Science Teacher.
Survivors include her parents, Gordon and Martha Blanton and Kathy Day; siblings, Kim Shelton, Jodi Day Wallace, and Shane (Krysti) Blanton; nieces and nephews, Kylie DuBose, Jayce DuBose, Laura (Adam) Ballard, and Mary Belle Blanton; six great nieces and nephews; Bonnie Blanton; and a special group of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ms. Day was preceded in death by her father, Danny Day; niece, Ashley Shelton; grandparents, Paul and Thelma Fox, Calvin and Jay Dean Day, and Dr. Harold Blanton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett Wall, Tyler Jones, Brent Bowan, David Fox, Jayce DuBose, and Rusty Day.
