Funeral Service for Carter B. Thompson, age 78, of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Earl Harper officiating; interment in Holly Pond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Cullman Regional. Carter was born the sixth of eleven children on Feb. 1, 1945, in Arkansas to Lester Phillip and R.Z. Thompson. He married Linda Thompson, the love of his life, on Sep. 15, 1965. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who put his family first and served them selflessly.
Carter loved the Lord and served as a church deacon for over 40 years at Plainview Missionary Baptist Church and most recently at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Mr. Thompson, a 32nd degree Mason, was a member and past master of Cullman Masonic Lodge No. 421.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald Thompson, Harold Thompson, and Roger Thompson; and sisters, Janet Casey and Sue Parrish. Survivors include his wife, Linda Thompson; son, Phillip (Sheri) Thompson; daughter, Rhonda (Jason) Shabel; grandchildren, Trey Shabel, Savannah (Logan) Davenport, Colby Shabel, Kaylee Shabel, Dani Thompson, and Gabi Thompson; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Davenport; brothers, Milton Thompson and Randy Thompson; sisters, Wilma Ludwig, Judy Thompson, and Sherry Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
