Cullman man arrested in Fultondale child predator case

FULTONDALE, Ala. – Jayson Ray Sparks, Sr., 55, of Cullman was one of 11 men arrested over the weekend in a sting operation led by the Fultondale Police Department and anti-human trafficking nonprofit Covenant Rescue Group. Sparks was charged with:

  • Traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act
  • Child solicitation by computer/electronic solicitation of a child.

A Fultondale Police Department social media post read: 

“We recently teamed up with Covenant Rescue Group on a child predator operation in Fultondale. We also had assistance from the Leeds PD, Warrior PD, Homewood PD, Irondale PD, and other agencies.

“We arrested 11 individuals who were not residents of Fultondale on this operation. The following individuals were arrested on this operation:

“Jamonte Jackson (25 years old from Bartow Georgia) for Traveling to Meet a Child for An Unlawful Sex Act and Electronic Solicitation of a Child.

“Domingo Cruz (34 years old of Bessemer) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act and Electronic Solicitation of a Child.

“Ariel Quezada( 25 years old of Pinson) Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act and Electronic Solicitation of a Child.

“Rolando Santana (27 years old of Jasper) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act and Electronic Solicitation of a Child.

“Dominique Powell (37 years old of Tarrant) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act and Electronic Solicitation of a child.

“Angelo Wilson (58 years old of Birmingham) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act and Electronic Solicitation of a Child.

“Alexis Reyes ( 22 years old of Columbiana) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act and Electronic Solicitation of a Child.

“Brian McLeod (27 years old of Pleasant Grove) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act, Electronic Solicitation of a Child, and Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child.

“Jayson Sparks (55 of Cullman) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act and Electronic Solicitation of a Child.

“Alexader Osala (32 years old of Bessemer) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act, Electronic Solicitation of a Child, Aggravated Assault of a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest.

“Robert Newton (22 years old of Trussvile) for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act, Electronic Solicitation of a Child, Attempting to Elude, and Resisting Arrest. Robert Newton backed into an unmarked police vehicle in an attempt to flee. He then refused medical treatment. However, the Jefferson County Jail refused to accept him because he had been involved in a vehicle accident. He is currently wanted for the listed charges.

“All Subjects are innocent until found guilty in court”

In a social media post, a Covenant Rescue Group representative wrote, “We would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work to help get these predators off the streets and behind bars.”

Sparks was assigned a bond total of $90,000 for the two charges. His status is not known at this time.
