Vinemont couple charged with drug trafficking

VINEMONT, Ala. – A couple from Vinemont is facing drug charges after a search warrant allegedly led to the discovery of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and prescription medication at their residence.

Cody Michael Clay, 27, and Hayley N. Clay, 26, were arrested on June 12 after Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies responded to their home at the request of the Cullman County Department of Human Resources (DHR).

Deputies and investigators determined there was sufficient evidence to request a search warrant, which was subsequently granted. A search of the residence allegedly revealed approximately $2,000 worth of marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia and prescription medication, officials said.

The couple has been charged with drug trafficking and possession of dangerous drugs. They were taken into custody and transported to the Cullman County Detention Center.

Cody Clay was able to post a $580,000 bond and has been released. However, Hayley Clay remains in custody on a $520,000 bond. The circumstances leading to the initial call to their residence have not been disclosed.
