CULLMAN, Ala. – An ATM was stolen from the main branch of Merchants Bank in Cullman just after midnight, Monday, May 29, according to the Cullman Police Department (CPD), but the thieves were not able to successfully open it.

CPD Public Information Officer Adam Clark said the ATM was located a short time later at the intersection of First Avenue Southwest and Birmingham Street Southwest.

“Both the suspect vehicle and ATM have been recovered,” said Clark. “Suspects (are) still at large.”

According to Clark, the thieves used a white and black Dodge pickup. When asked if the vehicle was stolen, he replied, “It is stolen.”

Clark said due to the ongoing investigation no suspects have been named.

He said one positive outcome is the recovery of both the vehicle and stolen goods.

“The ATM and money were both recovered,” he said.

This is a developing story.
