The National opens

CULLMAN, Ala – The National, a stylish and fresh new gastropub in the historic district of Cullman has officially opened its doors. The ambience is polished yet industrial, with plush green velvet booths offsetting the whitewashed brick and dark metallic sconces dotting the walls.

Owners Garrett Masters and Michael Locascio shared a vision of bringing a fresh splash of culinary flair to Cullman; a vision, Masters shared, that was months in the making.

“It’s been a long journey to get where we are. But we’re ecstatic to be open and serving everyone again!” said Masters.

The restaurant boasts unique spins on classic southern fare, from gussied-up shrimp and grits and Nashville-style chicken sandwiches to more complex dishes like chicken scallopini and 50-day aged steak; don’t be fooled, though, the menu offers a lot more than Alabama staples.

The restaurant will also be hosting live music on Saturdays, as well as Sunday brunch features that are sure to become a staple in your after-church routine.
