CULLMAN – A 5-vehicle traffic incident occurred earlier this morning on Highway 157 near the intersection of Childhaven Road. The southbound lanes were closed for some time, as the scene was being cleared and sand spread on the roadway. There were injuries, but no fatalities.

According to Cullman City Police Officer Joey Duncan, a brown Chevy Silverado was diving too fast for conditions and stuck a Chevy Traverse, which was coming to a stop due to traffic on Alabama Highway 157 near Childhaven Road. This caused the Traverse to strike a maroon Hyundai Santa Fe and the Santa Fe to strike a white Ford Fiesta. The Ford Fiesta was pushed into a blue Jeep Wrangler, which was stopped at the red light at the intersection.

The driver of the Chevy Traverse, from Cullman, was transported to Cullman Regional Medical Center (CRMC) with non life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the Hyundai Santa Fe were transported by personal vehicle to CRMC.

The roadway is now clear and opened back up to traffic.
