Decatur man arrested on fentanyl trafficking charge in Cullman Co.

CULLMAN, Ala. – Deputies from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a reckless driver on Interstate 65 near Dodge City on Monday, March 20.

Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Once stopped, the driver of the vehicle pulled over but then allegedly attempted to flee. After a short pursuit, the vehicle was once again stopped and the driver was taken into custody.

Marcus Cole Rice, 40, of Decatur, was identified as the driver. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly yielded a significant amount of fentanyl. 

Rice was arrested and charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, driving under the influence and attempting to elude.

Rice was released on a $505,000 property bond on Wednesday, March 22.
