CULLMAN – Will Raney, a 2016 graduate of Cullman High School, was recently named a National Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar by The College Board.
As noted by the College Board, a National AP Scholar Certificate is awarded to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. AP is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion and hard work of students and educators from both secondary schools and higher education.
Raney exceeded the minimum requirement for a National AP Scholar by attaining a score of 4 on two exams and 5 on seven exams for a total of nine AP exam achievements. This achievement has earned Raney a total of 44 college credit hours toward his bachelor's degree at the University of Alabama.
During his four years at Cullman High School, Raney completed AP coursework in AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1, AP Language and Composition, AP Literature and Composition, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP U.S. History and AP Art History.
Raney will apply this knowledge and college credit toward the completion of a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and minor in computer-based honors at the University of Alabama.
Raney was also the recent recipient of the National Alumni Association Crimson Scholarship, a competitive and selective award which is awarded to only 10-15 incoming freshmen each year.
