Emily Josephine Glasscock Pruett, better known as “Josie,” was born on Jan. 12, 1938, and, at the age of 85, passed from this world into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Feb. 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Melvell Glasscock; her sister, Betty Glasscock Taylor; and daughter, Kelley Pruett Robinson.
Josie is survived by her sister, Becky Glasscock Bonham of Prattville, AL; former husband, Bob Pruett (Marcia), of Beaufort, NC; daughter, Suzy Pruett Metts (Richard) of Hayden, AL; son, Scott Michael Pruett (Heather) of Hangzhou, China; son-in-law, Jode Robinson of Augusta, Georgia; grand-son, Scott Sutherland (Natalie) of Jacksonville, FL; grand-son, Jeremy Matlock (Anna) of Siargao, Philippines ; grand-daughter, Cheree Hopp (Kevin) of Saint Petersburg, FL; grand-daughter, Kellye Copri (Carlos) of Oldsmar, FL; grand-daughter, Bekah Metts Braden (Drew) of Hayden, AL; grand-son, Josh Metts (Lizi) of Nashville, TN; grand-son, Marlowe Pruett, Hangzhou, China; grand-children – Flora, Gavin, Linden, Ian, Misha, Emily, Leza, Nico, Hunter, Katie Robinson of Augusta, Georgia and a long list of great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service for Josie Pruett will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Hayden, 5080 Hwy 160, Hayden, AL, 35079, at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m.
In her last few years, Josie was a much-loved resident of Hanceville Nursing & Rehab Center. In 2022, she became the reigning HNRC Queen and enjoyed serving her “community” in this capacity. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to HNRC in memory of Josie Pruett. Their address is: 420 Main Street NE, Hanceville, AL, 35077.
