2 killed in Holly Pond house fire

HOLLY POND, Ala. – An early morning house fire in Holly Pond claimed two lives. Michael Ricky Olinger, 37, and Deborah Veal Olinger, 64, both of Holly Pond, were in the home and died as a result of the fire, said Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick. 

The fire began at approximately 2 a.m. according to Kilpatrick, who said he was called to the scene shortly after. Volunteer firefighters from Baileyton, Berlin, Holly Pond, Joppa and Walter, along with other emergency personnel, responded to the call at the home, located at 2205 County Road 1728. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Cullman County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office.
