North Alabama Agriplex brings the love in February

CULLMAN, Ala. – The North Alabama Agriplex continues to bring educational and exciting classes to naturalists of all ages. In February, classes will cover an array of subjects, from woodworking to beekeeping. 

Feb. 2 

Heritage Homeschool Secondary – Be a Field Biologist 

Noon-2 p.m. 

$10 per child, $20 family maximum 

Homeschooled students in grades 6-12 will participate in interactive presentations by the International Crane Foundation’s Biologist Jessie Taylor on “Name that Adaptation” and “Be a Field Biologist.”  

Feb. 4 

Farm Kids Club – Seed Safari 

9-10:30 a.m. 

$10 per child, $20 family maximum 

Children 5 and older will learn about seeds and how they grow and plant their own seed to take home and watch grow. 

Feb. 7 

Living Landscapes – Start Your Hobby Greenhouse 

6 p.m. 

$10 per person 

The sustainability series will feature Tony Glover teaching how to operate a personal greenhouse as a hobby or for profit. 

Feb. 10 

Little Farmers – Garden Friends 

10-11 a.m.  

$5 per child, $10 family maximum 

Children ages 3-5 are introduced to the creatures living in and under the garden. 

Feb. 15 

Lunch and Learn – Which Trees Are for Me? 

Noon-1 p.m. 

Free 

Bring your own lunch and learn which trees are right for you before the tree sale on Feb. 18. Stay tuned for more information on the tree sale. 

Feb. 21 

Veteran and Beginning Farmer – So You Want to Keep Bees for Fun and Profit? 

6-8 p.m. 

Free 

The workshop will be an introduction to beekeeping with the Alabama Cooperative Extension and local beekeepers presenting a panel discussion and exhibits. 

Feb. 23 

Heritage Homeschool Elementary – Pottery with Rebecca Horner of Keramos Ceramics 

9-11 a.m. 

$20 per child, class capacity of 25 

Homeschool students in kindergarten through sixth grade will be taught the pottery making process and make their own pots to take home. 

Feb. 23 

Heritage Skills – How to Begin Woodworking 

6-8 p.m. 

$10 per person 

The class will be taught by the Cullman Woodworkers Guild, which will be showing the basic tools and techniques of woodworking.
