Mrs. Betty Jean “Me-Ma” Coleman, age 86, of Bremen, went to be with her Savior on January 10, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family as she entered into her peaceful journey. Mrs. Coleman was born on August 20, 1936 to the late Willie and Omie (Robinson) Brooks in Cullman, Alabama. She held many titles throughout her life; including a loving wife for 38 years. Just to say that she was a momma and a housewife hardly begins to explain her legacy; she was so much more.

Mrs. Coleman was a God fearing woman. Every decision or plan was always decided through prayer. Aside from her devotion to Christ; her family was always her priority. Spending time together and making unforgettable memories was definitely a passion for her. From gardening and spending time in the flower beds to embroidery and her love for books were just a few of the many traits that molded the life she lived. As her journey to her heavenly home began to draw nearer she spent most of her time watching westerns; or as she would call them, her “cowboy’s”.

Those left to cherish her memories include her two daughters; Debra (Roger) Sanders and Pamela Privett; grandchildren, Sonja Trammell, Shanna (Matthew) Johnson, Jennifer (Brian) McCombs, Ashley Hyde and Aja Rogers; great grandchildren, Austin (Summer), Kayleah (Hannah), Krissy, Colby, Piper (Trent), Kilor, Shelby (Payton), Kelsey, Elissa, Parker, Eden (Ethan), Emma, Gracie, and Paci; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Ryder, Bowdie, Mila, Major, Mayzee, Lowynn, Lainey, Reese and Lennon; siblings, loving sisters and best friends, Geraldine (Junior) Washington and Joyce (Ray) Russell; and a host of many other loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her loving husband, Flavous Coleman; son-in-law, Gregory Privett; sister, Lucille (Buddy) Young; brothers, Melvin (Jean) Brooks, Jerry (Morrisanne) Brooks and Alvin (Betty Sue) Brooks; and great grandsons, Kristopher and Peyton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Austin, Colby, Kyler, Parker, Payton and Trent.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, at the Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Rivers officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Hayden. Visitation for the public will be on Friday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m.
