CULLMAN – The Cullman Planning Commission met on Monday night for their monthly meeting where all members were present with the exception of Mike Voss and Cherri Drake.
Two public hearings were followed by two subdivisions with both projects approved. The first, at Tidwell Street and Cleveland Avenue, two blocks north of Lessman Street, was subdivided to allow for new home construction on smaller lots. The second project, Fischer Farms-The Grove, simply included Lots 1-12 in its Phase I construction. It is located just south of Rehau on Industrial Park Road.
A proposed site and landscape plan was presented for 300 Second St. SE, the address for the current Creative Signs, by James Miller of Leonard Design Architects. While the plans have the entrances and exits to the parking lot remaining the same, several parking spots will be taken out and replaced by landscaping. The newly added dumpster does not meet city specifications and will need to be removed. Based on that condition, the plan was approved.
Lastly, the conditional use permit for 1837 Patriot Way SW was approved for Champion Sports Medicine, a physical therapy clinic. With over 10 locations in the state, Champion will be located in the retail building shared by Palm Beach Tan, Great Clips and Anytime Fitness. Roger Gurley, physical therapist and marketing manager for Champion Sports Medicine, represented the company during the meeting.
Planning Commission members in attendance were Mayor Max Townson, Andy Page, Bobby Kelley, Wendell Copeland, Gene Green, Steve Cummings and Barrett Richard.
The commission meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at Cullman City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.
