Frances Tidwell Williamson, 89, passed peacefully from this life on Nov. 12, 2022, in her home in Cullman, surrounded by loving family and friends.

She was born on May 7, 1933, in Cullman, Alabama to Noel and Goldie Tidwell, who preceded her in death, along with her brother Dale Tidwell.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Donald B. Williamson; her children Laurie (Brad) Moore of Leeds, AL; Tim (Wendy) Williamson of Dunwoody, GA; her beloved granddaughters Elizabeth (Philip) Akins of Tuscaloosa, AL; Madeleine Williamson of Knoxville, TN; and Catherine (Devin) Wilson of Leeds, AL; her brothers Robert (Rudeen) Tidwell of Cullman, AL; Jim (Suzanne) Tidwell of Cullman, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Frances was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving in many areas throughout her life, including the church nursery, Training Union, Girls in Action, WMU, and as the church librarian. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Entre Amies ladies club for many years. She worked as the secretary at East Elementary School, and later served as the accountant for Hospital Discount Pharmacy.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the dear ladies who made it possible for Frances to spend her final days in the comfort of her own home: Jewel Hester, Judy West, Kim Tidwell, and to the CRMC Hospice nurses who cared for our beloved wife and mother with compassion and dignity.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday Nov. 12, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church of Cullman.
