James Gerard “Jimmy” Hughes, 84, of Cullman entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at his residence. He was born on July 9, 1938, in Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A rosary will be said at 7:30. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife: Lateena Hughes; children: Brenda (Jeff) Knight, Alanna Hughes (Ramsey Etchison), Jimmy Hughes, Patrick Hughes, Brian Hughes, Michael (Larisa) Hughes, Ailish (Jonathon) Rodriguez and Angelina Hughes; grandchildren: Kevin Murtagh, Lisa Marie (Cody) Sauceda, Eliora Hughes, Indigo Etchison, Cody Hughes, Brian Hughes, Jr., Viviana Hughes, Michael S. Hughes, Sean M. Hughes, Ronan Hughes, Liliana C. Hughes, Nora Rodriguez, Daniella Rodriguez, Gabriel Rodriguez, Axelle Rodriguez, Leonardo Rodriguez, Brooke Rodriguez, Luna Rodriguez and Aubrey Rodriguez; great grandchildren: Sienna Murtagh, Alyssa Murtagh, Charlotte Sauceda and Luna Sauceda; siblings: Mairead Kelly, Ann (Eddie) Murray, Peadar (Briege) Hughes, Sean (Marian) Hughes and Nicky (Peggy) Hughes; sister-in-law: Anne Hughes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and special friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents: Patrick Hughes and Margaret Boyd Hughes; his sisters: Maureen McSweeney and Kathleen Hughes; brother: Patrick Hughes; brothers-in-law: Denny McSweeney and Donal Kelly.
