CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Deputy Nathan Trimble and his family last weekend tragically lost their home and virtually all possessions in a house fire.
The CCSO posted to Facebook and Sheriff Matt Gentry stated, “Cullman County is special – very unique because of the relationship between our citizens and law enforcement. The community’s response to this tragedy is just another example of this. We are thankful that no one was hurt, and we will help Deputy Trimble get through this any way we can. Thank you to everyone who has made donations and offered a helping hand.”
Wednesday afternoon, the CCSO shared that the clothing needs for the Trimble family have been met and the sheriff’s office will no longer be accepting clothing donations.
The community immediately offered an outpouring of support for Trimble. Chick-fil-A in Cullman (1830 Cherokee Ave. SW) is hosting a benefit breakfast this Friday, Sept. 2, from 6-10 a.m. A portion of all sales will go to support Trimble and his family.
Ben Wilson of Redline Leather Workz in Hanceville (318 Arkadelphia Road) has put together an essentials drive for the Trimble family that will run through Sunday, Sept. 4. Redline Leather Workz will be accepting donations of toiletries and cash. All donations will be delivered to the family on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.
Wilson shared, “As a first responder, we’re out there daily putting our lives on the line for complete strangers, but then who is there to help us in a time of need? We lean on each other for support, but a lot of times that ain’t always enough. If I can get the public to step up and lend a hand and show our first responders the same support they’re shown in a time of need then hopefully it will bridge the gap to creating a better understanding of how life affects each of us in different ways. We all live, work and socialize in the same community, and no matter what each of us do for a living or in our pastime, we should all be able to get along and live in some form of unison.”
Donations are being taken by friend of the family Amanda Miller at the Holly Pond Marathon gas station (10824 U.S. Highway 278 E). The store is accepting cash donations and gifts cards for food or gas. Miller has also received many clothing items for the family from the Holly Pond community.
Monetary donations can also be made at the Cullman branch of Premier Bank of the South (101 First Ave. NW), where a special account has been set up. All proceeds will go to Trimble and his family.
