Obituary: Nava Jean Parker

Funeral Service for Nava Jean Parker, age 85, of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Brian Westbrook officiating; interment in Cullman City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Parker passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born March 13, 1937, in Cullman, Alabama, to Delmer Heard and Jessie Eunice Wilkins.

Mrs. Parker was a Cullman High School graduate in 1955 and a Sacred Heart College graduate in 1957. She received a master’s degree in education from UAB, and she taught elementary education for 35 years at West Elementary School.

She married in 1958 and was married for 57 years to her husband, Billy Fae Parker. She owned a gift shop called the Gazebo and worked at Margo’s for 13 years. She was a longtime member of Cullman First United Methodist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was an avid member of the Altar Guild, Retired Teachers Association, AEA and Cotary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband: Billy Fae Parker.

Survivors include her son: Greg (Sharon) Parker; grandson: Blake Parker; step-grandchildren: Megan (Brett) Fuller, Brooke (Wes) Ward, Lukas Lee (Morgan Lynn); step-great-grandchildren: Payton Fuller, Kayden Fuller, Reece Ward, Jaxon Lee, and Jrake Lee; sister: Shelia (Larry) Waldrop; nephew: Mike (Lori) Schafer; niece: Megan Schafer; great-nephew: Kevin Schafer; and special family friends: Brian (Kara) Westbrook and Patrick Westbrook.
