CULLMAN, Ala. – With generations of Cullman County youth decrying the lack of fun activities in town, the City of Cullman Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism (CPRST) department provided their solution on Friday with the ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony of the city’s new water park, WildWater.

“It’s awesome to build something this nice for our community to enjoy and to also have something so incredible that it’s going to draw regional attention. People who live an hour or two away are going to be visiting every day. They’ll be spending money in our gas stations and our stores, increasing our tax revenue.

“They’re going to have the opportunity to be introduced to Cullman maybe for the first time because of this special new park we have now,” shared CPRST Executive Director Nathan Anderson.

City of Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs echoed the sentiment saying, “People love coming to Cullman. Our restaurants are suburb, and we have a ton of them. Our citizens are outgoing and friendly. With WildWater, Cullman is definitely the place to be.”

Jacobs went on to express his pride in our small town’s ability to build and operate a venture of WildWater’s magnitude.

“We’re thrilled that a town of our size can enjoy an amenity of this caliber. Think about it. Our population is less than 20,000 in the city and we’ve done something this great,” he said.

Cullman City Council President Jenny Folsom remarked, “Cullman is growing bigger and better every single day and this park is evidence of that. This is a fun day to remember.”

The three-acre park held its soft opening weeks ago and has welcomed thousands of visitors since. A 22,000 square foot wave pool, several water slides and designated water play area for small children and infants guarantee fun for the whole family. Several concession options are available as are special events scheduled throughout the summer months.

Anderson was quick to thank those who made the park possible noting, “We appreciate the support we’ve received from our community, from our mayor and from our city council. They’ve shown their confidence in us to run something so incredible.”
