CULLMAN, Ala. – Perhaps you’ve noticed the changes to the little cinderblock building just south of Handy TV and Aaron’s Rentals on Hwy 31 recently. Previously a nondescript white building housing various businesses over the years, the spot has undergone a recent transformation.

Now hand painted with beautiful blue mandalas on the outside, Manifest Yoga and Wellness draws the public inside to an atmosphere of softness and peace. Cheerful flowers on the soft lilac are painted on the walls with the blessing of building owner Dr. Jerry Galin of Galin Enterprises.

Kimberly Page-Hannan, with mindful intention, created not only a business, but a space where releasing the burdens and stress from everyday life is the name of the game.

“Every session we approach the mat to practice. We practice feeling comfortable and relaxed. We practice doing the things that make us feel uncomfortable and that can be a little bit difficult. We see how the body and the mind reacts to that comfort or that struggle. We find that perhaps we can take that practice from the mat to different parts of our lives outside of the studio.”

Originally from Houston, Texas, Page-Hannan, along with her husband Alex, hailing from the New Hampshire area, have made their way to Cullman via Cleveland, Ohio. Upon completing his fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic, Alex accepted a position at Cullman Primary Care as their rheumatologist.

Holding classes throughout the weekdays, Manifest offers Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Meditation sessions. On the first and third Saturdays of each month, a free family class is held at 11:00 a.m. Available for all levels of practice including those with mobility struggles, the classes are held in person or via Zoom.

With a background in neuropsychology, Page-Hannan also offers Trauma-Sensitive Yoga and Dialectical Behavior Therapy guidance.

“I think everybody’s yoga practice offers something different. Different teachers bring a different focus. For me, coming from a neuropsychology background, I care a lot about helping the body heal from past trauma,” shared Page-Hannan.

She continued, “Yoga is unity, the unity of the body with the breath, with the spirit. If, when you’re doing yoga, you focus solely on the physical fitness aspect of it, you’re missing two thirds of it. You’re missing what it’s about. It’s about learning how to calm the body using the breath, the thing that helps us sustain life. This is how we heal.”

Manifest Yoga and Wellness is located at 1900 2nd Avenue SW in Cullman and can be reached at 256-595-7355.
