BAILEYTON, Ala. – At Baileyton Town Council’s meeting Monday night, the town discussed the upcoming Family Fun Day. The 2nd annual Baileyton Family Fun Day will be on May 28 at Baileyton Park. There are 13 arts and crafts vendors signed up so far. For booth availability, please call the town hall at 256-796-6447. The mayor asked for any volunteers who were able to come to help set up for the event the Friday before. The Chic-fil-A truck will be on site, as well as Charlie Whitehead’s Barbeque, Fat Daddy’s Street Food and desserts.

Nine groups including Temple Baptist Church, 212 Insurance, Biker’s Against Child Abuse, AirEvac and the Baileyton Fire Department will be present to sponsor the event. Live music will be provided by Jesse Priest. The Classic Car Show will be from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. A $200 cash prize will go to the People’s Choice Winner. Pre-registration is $25, while day-of registration is $30. Register by calling Baileyton Town Hall.

Parkside School’s Volunteer Fair will be May 6 at 1:00 p.m. with set up at 11:00 a.m. The fair invites neighboring volunteer services to come and engage the kids in volunteer work. Several groups including the Link of Cullman, PALS and the Sheriff’s Office will be on site to demonstrate some of the services they provide. The kids are currently being given the opportunity to participate in some volunteer work through May 13 by making cards, submitting to a poster contest, participating in garbage pick-up and whole grade activities. Pre-k – 2nd grade is doing a canned food drive, 3rd grade is collecting cleaning supplies and old glasses for the Lion’s Club, 4th – 5th are planting an outdoor garden and 6th– 8th grades are holding a Campus Clean-up.

Councilmember Sumner said, “The idea behind this was to get the kids to understand that volunteering is an important part of things instead of just taking.”

The town has renewed their contract with AirMedCare Network to provide coverage for residents of Baileyton when transported by any AirMedCare Network Provider. “We pay a flat fee to them where if you’re in the town of Baileyton and you have to be AirEvac-ed, it costs you nothing.” Residents of the town can also receive a discounted flight bill nationwide.

Baileyton Town Council meets the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Baileyton Town Hall. The public is invited to attend.
