BREMEN – Most churches have outreach programs that specialize in helping members of their local communities in times of need. Addington Chapel United Methodist Church in Bremen is no exception.
The church makes free clothing available to people, parishioners or non-parishioners alike, on the fourth Saturday of each month unless there’s a scheduling conflict such as a funeral. However, the free closet is available in times of an emergency as well.
“They have anywhere from babies’ clothes to adult men or women’s clothes available. They just kind of come look through them and see what they can use. A month or two ago, there was a lady who had a young family. I think they’re house had burned and they needed some clothes so we opened the church for them and they came and got some clothes,” shared Carla Stricklin.
Accepting clothing donations to keep its closet full, Addington Chapel is located at 185 County Road 59 in Bremen. To make donations, contact Stricklin at 256-287-1791 or call 256-287-1828.
