HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Senior Outreach Organization will be presenting their Heehaw Show on Saturday April 30 at the Hanceville Civic Center at 2:00 p.m. The show was first performed at the Donald Greene Active Adult Center in February of 2019. The group was unable to perform in 2021 due to Covid, so they are excited to bring the show back for 2022.

The cast, directed by Jamie Brown, plays favorite characters like Roy Clarke, George Jones, Grandpa Jones, Porter Wagner, Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn. The cast will perform well known songs including, “Gloom, Despair and Agony,” “Old Rattler” and “Mountain Dew.” There will also be original skits written by Brown.

Tickets are still available for $10 and can be purchased at the door or at the Donald Greene Center on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Senior Outreach Center meets at the Donald Greene Senior Center every Monday at 1:00 p.m. The Outreach Center is a nonprofit originally created by Brown to bring meals and entertainment to seniors on the weekends. Brown writes small plays and skits for the seniors to perform as a fun way for them to socialize and show their skills. The funds raised from the Heehaw Show will go back into the center to fund the sound equipment and costumes for the skits.

Brown said, “We’re looking forward to it. We’ve got a big week. We’re going Wednesday to Wallace and doing a small skit. Thursday, we’re going to set everything up, and then Friday we’ll practice down there, and Saturday will be the show. We’re excited.”
