CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department made two arrests last week after officers were notified by the Flock System about a vehicle’s license plate that was stolen.

CPD Public Relations Officer Adam Clark said the Flock System are license plate readers that give alerts to law enforcement for stolen plates, vehicles of interest in a crime, stolen vehicles, etc.

The Flock System alerted officers to the area and Officer Roy Bates and Nicolas Watkins found the car at Walmart north unoccupied.

John Niles Linley, 26, of Cullman, and Trey Guthery, 28, of Hanceville, were in a car with stolen plates.

“They waited for the two to get back to the car and then stopped them in the parking lot,” Clark said. “Both subjects had warrants and drugs were found in the vehicle. Guthery claimed the drugs and Linley gave a false name but was identified by a deputy on scene as John Niles Linley.”

Linley was charged with (CCSO) dangerous drugs-PDP drug paraphernalia-1st offense, dangerous drugs-sell/distribution of dangerous drugs, stolen property-RSP sale of stolen property, $1500 or more and (CPD) obstruction of justice-giving a false name.

Guthery was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property in the fourth degree.

“The CPD would also like to thank CCSO Deputy Austin Black and and Deputy Jake McQuillin,” Clark said.
