Mack Collman Duke, 88, of Addison, entered into rest peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2022 at his home, as he wished to be, surrounded by his loving family.
Mack was born on March 25, 1933 in Addison, Alabama. He was a longtime member of Addison Church of God. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years before joining the workforce for many years as a heavy equipment operator. Mack had many hobbies, including working puzzles, playing checkers, dominos, cards and word find puzzle books. He also enjoyed fishing, boat riding and trips with Brenda in their RV.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Addison Church of God, where services will be at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Rodney Ridgeway will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in Nesmith Church Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn at all times when social distancing is not possible.
Mack is survived by his wife of 28 ½ years: Brenda Duke; children: Melanie Anders, Cleo Anders and Camilla Millican-Samuelson; grandchildren: Jarrod Anders and Shanda Anders; grand Godchild: Ava Cobb and sister: Faye Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Doris Parks Duke; mother: Etta Sweat Duke; father: Robert Andrew Duke and siblings: Roy Duke, Vennie Duke, Western Duke, Lola Duke Hodge, Robert Duke, Alta Duke Moore, Billie Duke and Ray Duke.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Darnell, Baretta Hastings, Dusty Hayes, Drew Johnson, David Pigg, Jacob Pigg, Jamie Smothers and Matt Smothers.
