CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. – The suspect involved in a multiple county car chase and manhunt was apprehended following the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies on Thursday, January 6.

The suspect, Joseph Wise, 29, of Huntsville, was taken into custody without further incident once apprehended.

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office said the pursuit did end in Cullman County.

“Blount County began the pursuit following an armed robbery in their county,” Matt Gentry said. “We became involved once they entered our county. He is a suspect in crimes here in Cullman and will likely have charges but is currently in Blount County Jail at this time. Blount County may have more info at this time.”

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office said they were notified of a car chase that had begun elsewhere, but led into Blount County.

Blount County deputies and officers from the Blountsville Police Department responded to the northwest area of the county.

The chase from another county went from a car chase to a man hunt in which all these mentioned above assisted the initial responding agency.

After searching for the subject for some time, the search was called off and all agencies went back to regular patrol duties.

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office stated that some time later, law enforcement was called to an address on Bangor Hollow Road for a stolen vehicle complaint.

During that time another chase began with the listed stolen vehicle. The suspect ran from law enforcement on County Road 26 and crashed at Jenkins Road but was able to flee on foot and once again avoid capture.

The suspect was able to make his way back to an address on County Road 26 where he stole a vehicle at knife point from the victim. The suspect then, in an attempt to leave the address, was seen leaving the address on County Road 26 by Officer Best with the Blountsville Police Department at a high rate of speed.

Officer Best was able to get behind the vehicle immediately and a pursuit began from there. Best, Mullins, Burney, Sanders and Green, as well as Lt. Wes Neill, chased the suspect into Cullman County where spike strips were deployed, and the pursuit ended.

The suspect, Joseph Wise, 29, of Huntsville, was taken into custody without further incident. After originally not cooperating with Law Enforcement, the suspect has now agreed to help retrieve other stolen merchandise that he discarded throughout the day.

The BCSO said they are thankful that no one was injured during this event.

“A special thanks to Officer Best of the Blountsville Police Department and the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, if not for them, this pursuit may not have ended as smoothly, and the outcome could have been much different,” Sheriff Mark Moon said.
