Obituary: George Henry “Sonny” Seckfort

George Henry “Sonny” Seckfort peacefully passed away December 25, 2021 with his family by his side.

George was born in Cullman, Alabama to William and Frieda (Mueller) Seckfort on December 24, 1938 and was the youngest of five children.

George was raised to have a strong work ethic, which served him well over the years. In the 1960’s he joined the Alabama Army National Guard, where he served for six years. He later began working in the trade field of plumbing, ultimately leading him to a 32-year career with Ivey Mechanical out of Kosciusko, MS. George retired from lvey’s in 2009 and was extremely proud of the work he accomplished while working there.

George also met and fell in love with Carolyn (Brooks) Seckfort. They had two daughters and eventually moved to Texas due to the work he did for Ivey Mechanical. It was here he settled and lived from 1981 until 2021, although, the job  did have him moving around throughout the years, his home base was always Houston and Alabama. After retirement, George was devoted to being around the grandkids and taking trips to the casino.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years: Carolyn (Brooks) Seckfort; his  parents: William and Frieda (Mueller) Seckfort; two brothers: William Seckfort and Charles Seckfort and two sisters: Lula Mae Cosper and Elizabeth Dooley.

He is survived by his two daughters: Kim Grant (Glen Pieczonka) and Amanda Gutierrez (Rene Gutierrez) and four grandchildren: Gregory Grant, Alexis, Ryan and Rande Gutierrez.

Funeral services was held at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (1123 Burney Road, Sugar Land, TX 77498) on December 30, 2021.
