Violet Putman Reid, 78, of Hanceville, AL, passed away on December 1, 2021, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Violet loved life and especially her large extended family. She loved to read books, listen to music, dance, and most of all, watch Atlanta Braves baseball. She was moved to tears to see the 2021 Atlanta Braves win the World Series before she passed. She was a breast cancer survivor and as strong-willed a woman as you could ever meet. Even with her strength, she was very compassionate and caring for others. She was loved by everyone and will be missed by all.

Violet was born on January 24, 1943, in Garden City, Alabama to Mr. and Mrs. Bacil Putman. She graduated from Waterford Township High School in Waterford, Michigan in June 1960. She married Ronald Hudson Reid on December 23, 1961, in Waterford, Michigan. She studied nursing at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville and began her career in the medical field working at Drs. Meiman and Montgomery in Cullman. She retired from Lab Corp in Birmingham. Violet could not stay retired long and began working at VF Jeanswear in Holly Pond; however, no employment gave her more joy than caring for the Lamar children, whom she loved as if they were her own grandchildren.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband: Ronald Hudson Reid, Sr.; parents: Bacil and Dorothy Putman; her brother: Bacil Van Putman; her beloved niece: Christina Mary Putman Sapp and her great-grandson: Tarrant Jordon White.

Violet is survived by her children: Ronald Hudson Reid, Jr., Mark Allan (Sharon) Reid, Victoria Reid (Chad) Perry and Britt Hayden (Kayce) Reid; her sister: Pamela Putman (Bruce) Gockerman; grandchildren: Brett (Jennifer) White, Lacey (Zach) McGriff, Alexandra (Patrick) Britton, Olivia (Westin) Wilborn, Hayden Elizabeth Reid, Reid Perry and Harrison Reid; great-grandchildren: Lexi White, Mia McGriff, Grayson McGriff, Gunnar Wilborn, Parker Britton and Owen Wilborn; special nephew: Daniel (Candace) Guthery; her adopted family: Bethany (AJ) Lamar, Jay Blanton Lamar, Rush Lamar, Kathryn Lamar and Karis Lamar and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and the dearest of friends.
