TULSA, OK – Miss Alabama, Alexandria Flanigan of Cullman, will be competing in the 70th  annual Miss USA pageant to be held on Nov. 29 at the Paradise Cove Theatre of River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event will be broadcast at 8:00 p.m. ET on the FYI Network and livestreamed on Hulu. The categories of competition to be judged are interview, evening gown and bikini.

The Miss Alabama pageant was the first state pageant in which Alexandria was a competitor. She remarks, “I was never a pageant girl. I actually grew up an athlete just like everyone else in my family. I never wore makeup to school. I wore sweatpants almost every day. This platform has not necessarily made me a pageant girl, but it’s just brought out a side of me that I don’t really see a lot, and I love this side of me, a more confident, ‘sure of herself’ side.”

Alexandria has already met many of the women she will be competing against on an orientation trip to Mexico. She says, “Every single woman that I met, they are beautiful and kind and intelligent. I feel like just being in a room full of like-minded women is so encouraging.”

Alexandria is a pre-law student at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She is also an ambassador at the Cullman Chamber of Commerce and aspires to be a member of Congress. Alexandria is excited about having time for future philanthropy projects after the pageant.
