(Updated) Good Hope finishes first at Cullman County Cheer Competition

CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. – Good Hope High School hosted the third annual Cullman County Cheer Competition on November 6 where Good Hope Varsity finished with the title. 

Good Hope Head Coach of the Varsity,  JV and Middle School cheer teams Brandy Lowe, along with Sydney Chappell who works with the cheer teams, shared with The Tribune of their recent successes. 

Lowe and Chappell said they were very proud of the competitiveness the team showed on Saturday. 

“We are very excited for our teams’ performances Saturday,” Chappell said. “Our cheer program, as a whole, has grown a lot and become more competitive over the past few years. So much of that is due to the hard work of our athletes, including daily practices for the whole cheer season (which is year-round). Our girls work extremely hard and are truly a family, pushing and encouraging each other everyday. Our school and administrators are extremely supportive of our cheer program, and that is what helps make it a success.”

The winners included: Middle School GameDay Division; Good Hope Middle- Champion; Holly Pond Middle- Second place; Hanceville Middle- Third place; Honorable mentions: West Point, Vinemont.

The Middle School Traditional Division Champion was Good Hope Middle School. 

The JV Gameday champion was Good Hope Junior Varsity. 

The Varsity Game Day Champion was Good Hope High School Varsity. West Point Varsity finished in second place, while Fairview Varsity finished third. 

The Honorable mentions were Hanceville, Holly Pond, Cold Springs, Vinemont

The Varsity Traditional Champion was Good Hope Varsity and second place was West Point Varsity. 

“I am so thankful for all the wonderful coaches that volunteer so much time and devotion to the teams—Sydney Chappell, Destiny Powe, and Ashley White,” Lowe said. “Also, to Josh and Lacy Stancil at Victory Cheer Academy.”

Lowe said they also won first place in game day in AHSAA regionals and first place in gameday at UCA Super Regional. They also received a bid to nationals in game day and traditional competition.
