VINEMONT, Ala. — The Vinemont Eagles returned home for Friday night’s homecoming matchup against Tarrant and celebrated the occasion with a big, 49-0 homecoming win over the Wildcats to improve to 2-3 on the year.

Vinemont received the opening kickoff but fumbled the ball to the Wildcats. After the fumble, the Eagle defense stepped up to force a three and out, quickly giving the ball back to their offense. Three plays later, Colby Miller got loose for a 67-yard touchdown to put the Eagles ahead 8-0 with 8:11 remaining in the first quarter. Another three and out from Tarrant set up Miller’s second touchdown of the night, this time from 31 yards out to put the Eagles up 16-0 with 4:12 remaining until the second quarter.

The Wildcats fumbled the ensuing kickoff, giving the ball right back to the Eagles offense and three plays later, Kayden Henderson put the Eagles up 23-0 with a 30-yard touchdown run with 2:39 left in the opening quarter. Vinemont got the ball right back when Tarrant fumbled the kickoff for a second time and once again it only took three plays for the Eagles to find the endzone. Miller scored his third touchdown of the night from 30 yards out to put the Eagles up 29-0 with 1:38 until the second quarter.

With 9:52 remaining until halftime, Miller scampered 36 yards for his fourth touchdown of the night putting the Eagles up 36-0. On Tarrant’s next offensive play, Austin Boudreaux scooped up a fumble and ran it back for a touchdown to push the lead to 42-0 with 9:34 remaining until halftime. With 4:34 left in the game, Diego Rodriguez tacked on a 9-yard touchdown run of his own to cap off a 49-0 victory for the Eagles.

With the win, Vinemont improves to 2-3 on the season and will be off next week before traveling to take on Winfield Oct. 1.
