MILLPORT, Ala. – The Meek Tigers were back on the road Friday night for another regional showdown and this time it was against the Stallions of South Lamar. Neither team was able to build more than a 1-possession lead in the game and it was tight throughout all four quarters, but the Tigers were able to come up with another big win on the road 32-26.
The Stallions struck first to take a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but Meek responded quickly to tie things up at 6. South Lamar was able to move back in front 12-6 in the second quarter, but the Tigers found the endzone later in the period to take a 14-12 lead. The Stallions crossed the goal line one more time just before the half to take a 20-14 lead into the locker room at halftime, but Meek responded in the second half.
The Tigers scored in the third quarter to tie things back up at 20 but South Lamar was able to get back on the scoreboard and take a 26-20 lead early in the fourth quarter. That’s when the Tigers rallied, scoring 12 unanswered points in the final frame to come from behind and defeat the Stallions 32-26 on their home field.
Meek improves to 3-1 on the season with the win and will be back on the road next week to play Hubbertville.
