HANCEVILLE – On Friday, May 6, investigators with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dylon Chase Shook, 20, of Hanceville, for electronic solicitation of a child under the age of 12.

CCSO investigators were alerted to the matter after a relative of the victim discovered inappropriate pictures between the victim and the suspect on a social media app. Investigators worked diligently to uncover all the electronic forensics from the social media app that the suspect used to contact the victim.

Due to the graphic nature of this crime and the involvement of a minor child, the CCSO can only release limited details.

“I would first of all like to say how brave I think this child is for coming forward and we need to keep the child in our prayers,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry.  "Also, I would like to tell all the parents who have young children who use social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc, to monitor your children’s private messages because predators use social media to find innocent victims."

Shook is being held at the Cullman County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond.
