The first crate of Cullman County strawberries was sold by D.C. Chambers of Route One, Cullman this week for $5.50.

William M. Dean of Arkadelphia has been named by the Birmingham Ministerial Association to preach the annual sermon at the college church, McCoy Memorial Methodist, on May 18.

Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Jordan of Trimble were injured in an automobile accident on Sunday.

Married last week were Miss Mildred Thomas and John T. Cargo.

Mrs. J.M. Singleton underwent an operation on Monday at the hospital here. Mr. and Mrs. George Ponder, Senior, Miss Melda Ponder and Albert Ponder will spend Sunday in Flintville, Tennessee with Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Sims.

Miss Ruth Fuller of Birmingham spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Asa B. Fuller.

The Northern District B.Y.P.U. Convention will be held at the First Baptist Church on April 24 and 25.

The 10 Cullman band members who played in the All-State High School Band in Montgomery on Friday were Melvin Hyatt, Hoyt Hancock, Herbert Buettner, Fred Ragland, Virgie Duckworth, Frank Bittinger, Herbert Wagner, Bernard Holmes, Theodore Meyer, Louis Vogel, III and Professor Pat Bria.

From Cullman schools to Montevallo this week will go Misses Margaret Hartung and Eunice Martin to complete in the statewide piano contest, Misses Vonda Lee Johnston and Frances Foust for the speech contest, Miss Mary Glenn Murphree, representing the expression teacher, Mrs. M. Kilingsworth and Mrs. A.B. Murphree, chaperones.
