Rummage Sale

Friday, May 6 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at 410 13th Street SE. Weather-permitting. Cash only. All proceeds benefit the shelter Daystar House, a United Way of Cullman County agency.

Rummage Sale

Trinity Lutheran Church, 505 Commercial Street, Hanceville, will have a rummage sale on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7, beginning at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit the youth group, who will be attending the 2016 National LCMS Youth Gathering and Missions in New Orleans.

City of Hanceville Senior Citizens’ Fish-o-Rama

Friday, May 6, the free event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with registration at Hanceville’s Veteran’s Park. The event will begin wrapping up at around 10:30 a.m., and by 11a.m. the prizes and winners will be announced. There will be a first, second and third place, as well as a “most fish caught,” and “biggest fish caught” prize. There will be lunch offered and door-prizes as well.

2016 Strawberry Festival Senior Day

Friday, May 6, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Will include Leiper’s Fork Bluegrass Band, Bingo and a free sack lunch for the first 300 senior citizens. Located across from the Festhalle at 209 First Ave. NE. For more information, contact Angie Jochum at 256-734-4803.

2016 Strawberry Festival

May 6-7, 2016, at Depot Park, a host of local farmers will offer strawberries to purchase both days of the event. Strawberry-themed foods, ice cream, drinks and more will also be a part of the festival. Huge lineup of music, free kids’ games and rides, dozens of craft vendors and a car show. Food trucks will also be on-site both days. The festival will run from 4-10 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday. Leadercast

Friday, May 6 at 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Daystar Church Good Hope Campus. On behalf of Chick-fil-A Cullman, Cullman Chamber of Commerce and Daystar Church, we are pleased to bring you Leadercast 2016, a one-day live simulcast leadership event. This year, we will focus on what it means to be a visionary leader. Sheriff Matt Gentry, Pastor Jerry Lawson, Cullman County Superintendent Shane Barnette and Chick-fil-A Owner/Operator Randy Earnest will participate in a discussion Q&A during this year's ‪#‎Leadercast! Sensory-Friendly Movie Night

Cullman Autism and Special Needs Family Support Group along with Cullman Carmike Theater will host a sensory-friendly movie night on Friday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m. “Ratchet and Clank,” an animated tale set in space complete with a brainy robot and his sidekick, will be shown to our community members who have special needs. Admission will be free to all attendees with developmental delays and/or special needs and $7 for their friends and family members who wish to accompany them. Hanceville Farmer's Market

The Hanceville Farmer's Market has locally-grown fruits, vegetables and meats, as well as arts and crafts. They are open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Located at 200 Bangor Ave.

Cullman Caring for Kids- United Way Food Bank

Cullman Senior Center Gospel Singing

The Cullman Senior Center will have a Gospel Singing beginning at 9:30 a.m. every Friday. Special guests share devotions at 10:30 a.m. A hot meal is served at 11:30 a.m. daily. For more information, call 256-734-0145. The Cullman Senior Center is located at 1539 Sportsman Lake Road NW.

AA Meeting

The Cullman Downtown Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 1519 St. Joseph St. NW. Every day at noon will be an open discussion meeting, Sunday at 7 p.m. is an open discussion and speaker meeting, Tuesday at 7 p.m. is an open discussion meeting (with meal at 6:30 p.m.), Wednesday at 7 p.m.; Thursday at 10:30 a.m. is women's big book study; and Friday at 7 p.m. is a closed discussion meeting (no card signed). Senior Spirit Program
A program sponsored by the City of Cullman Parks and Recreation Department that focuses on recreational, social and leisure opportunities for individuals 50 & over. There is no membership fee and programs are offered at the Donald E. Green Senior Center at Ingle Park.

 

Exercise Area

An exercise area with several types of equipment is available for seniors to use provided they have a release form signed by their physician.

Dulcimer Classes

Take lessons to learn the Appalachian dulcimer, generally regarded as one of the easiest string instruments to learn. The traditional way to play the instrument is to lay it flat on the lap and pluck or strum the strings with the right hand, while fretting with the left.

Cost: $10 for 1 hour

Pool table is available for play every day.
