CULLMAN, Ala. – Virtual School applications have been made available through the Cullman City School System. As of now, the 2021-2022 school year will primarily proceed as face-to-face instruction in a traditional classroom setting. The Cullman Innovation Academy is a fully virtual curriculum and will only be available to applying students in grades 6 – 12 who meet the requirements for the program. Students considering this option should be highly motivated, independent learners capable of thriving with limited support from certified teachers. This will not be a hybrid program and will exclude students from extracurricular activities.

In order to qualify for the Cullman Innovation Academy, students in grades 9 – 12 should be on track for graduation with their cohort, have demonstrated success in face-to-face learning environments, should not have excessive absences, and also should demonstrate characteristics that would show excellence within the virtual learning program such as self-motivation, organization, and self-discipline. Students in grades 11 – 12 should meet their College Career Readiness Indicator.

Alongside the required qualifications, students will have limited access to elective courses. All state testing will be conducted on campus at the student’s applicable school, and all students who commit to the Cullman Innovation Academy will not be able to transition out until the end of the semester. If transitioning, schools must be notified by November 30, 2021.

To apply for the Cullman Innovation Academy, contact Ms. Bates at 256-734-2233 (ext. 9076), or visit https://cullmancats.net
