CULLMAN, Ala. – Flowers can make someone smile, and this week, Cullman Florist is lighting up faces as part of Teleflora’s annual Make Someone Smile Week. As part of the program, which runs July 18-24, Cullman Florist and its volunteers are delivering 500 plants in “smile” mugs to the many deserving recipients at Cullman Regional Medical Center and members of the community.
Each year during Make Someone Smile Week, thousands of florist volunteers from around the country participate. The program started in 2000 and has grown each year. According to Teleflora.com, the program will deliver 30,000 beautiful bouquets of flowers to help bring smiles across the country. This year, priority has been given to flower deliveries to essential workers who have gone above and beyond during the pandemic, such as hospital employees, first responders, emergency personnel, nursing home employees and recipients of Meals-on-Wheels programs.
Cullman Florist owner Stephanie Cook shared her sentiments on the event saying, “All of us at Cullman Florist love our community! It is like a prerequisite to work here. Cullman Florist is celebrating 55 years in business this year. We are here because of the community!”
She continued, “We are here to serve the community from beginning to end. Each day we get to see how important flowers and plants are in every way, and what an impact they make. Flowers and plants increase levels of positive energy and help us to feel secure and relaxed. Where we add flowers and plants to our work and home, we improve our mood and reduce our stress levels. So, we love this project because we get to go out in the community and make a difference. This year, we will hand out over 500 mugs to the employees at Cullman Regional. We are so thankful to them and everything they do for our community on a daily basis.”
