FAIRVIEW – On Saturday, May 7 at Fairview Town Park, the Fairview High School marching band will hold a community yard sale from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. The band is hoping to make this an annual event.
According to Michelle Watwood, an FHS Band Booster Club member, this yard sale is one of two fundraising events the band hopes to hold annually. The other is a car show, which will take place on August 7.
“The band is on a new uniform campaign right now,” Watwood said. “The kids are currently wearing 15-year-old uniforms. The parents actually have to tape up the uniforms before their kids go out and play on Friday nights.”
Fairview High’s marching band gets no funding from the county or state, so thy rely on donations for a lot of things.
This yard sale has the potential to be a big annual fundraiser for the band. Anyone is able to sell items at the sale, all he or she has to do is register with FHS Marching Band Booster Club at $10 per spot. The band is also taking donations of items to sell themselves at the event.
Donations can be dropped off at the FHS band room from May 2-6 at 841 Welcome Road. The band will also be at Fairview Town Park on May 6, accepting donations from 5-6 p.m.
