As a certified yoga instructor who has taught for over seven years, Beverly Dotesy found her neighboring passion in massage therapy. She had always wanted to open her own place to practice and thus, Massage and Yoga with Beverly was born. While her space is not large enough to currently teach yoga, she is taking massage clients every day and changing lives.
When asked what it’s like to be a massage therapist, Beverly said, “Learning never stops, there is always something new to learn about the body, a new technique or skill. I will forever be learning; I have only scratched the surface.”
She absolutely loves what she does and believes the most rewarding part of her job to be knowing that for an hour, she can give her clients relief from the pain or stress of their daily lives. She aims to quiet the mind, soften the body and bring peace to her clients, even if only for a little while.
While incredibly rewarding, owning your own business does not come without challenges. Being new, building consistent clientele and getting your name out there can be the most difficult. One of the most helpful things a client can do is leave a review on Facebook, Yelp, Google or Square. There are so many ways to brag about the places we love and the people we trust to help us!
Beverly Dotesy is a perfect fit for this business. When she steps into a treatment room, her client is her only focus. She believes that to truly be effective, connecting with every client is a must and establishing trust is key. She knows her clients can tell if there isn’t enough effort for connection on her part and she takes that very seriously.
She claims the most surprising thing about being a massage therapist is the amount of laundry she does to ensure a fresh setting for each and every person she sees; which is why she hopes to expand to a larger studio soon, complete with a laundry unit.
