CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Community Theatre announced this week via social media, “Cullman Community Theatre’s Summer Season is on! Due to very recent updates in local policies, our board has met and decided to move forward with a summer musical for the 2021 season!”
CCT will be holding informational meetings and open auditions next Tuesday and Thursday, June 1 and 3, at 6:30 p.m. at The Little House at Art Park, 1031 Second St. SW off Main Avenue, in hopes of finding folks ready to work on a musical production.
CCT Director Wayne Cook told The Tribune, “We are mainly trying to determine the interest level next week with those two meetings. If we have the cast, we will begin the process of a large production this summer.”
CCT has not revealed any specific show ideas, but the group is accustomed to big summer productions. After its inaugural “The Music Man” in 2018 and “Oklahoma!” in 2019, “Hello Dolly” was shelved by COVID in 2020, along with a planned children’s production of “Frozen” that would follow a late summer theater camp.
If you are intrigued, curious or just ready to get out and do something, CCT offers an invitation: “Come out and see our board members, find out about the show and audition for a role or sign up to be a part of the production crew! We can’t wait to see you all next week and are so ready to get to entertain our community together!”
Summer Theatre Camp is on!
Earlier this month, CCT announced the return of Summer Theatre Camp in partnership with Cullman City Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism, from June 28 to July 2, at Cullman High School.
According to the online camp registration page, the camp will be led by staff of Cullman High School Theater and Fine Arts Department, who will direct the play “Frozen,” which it was not able to produce last year.
According to CCT, “This is the perfect camp for the little actor in your family who wants to perfect their stage presence and performing abilities! Participants will learn the in’s and out’s of what it takes to put on a large production as well.”
