CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Schools has been approved for state funding that will grow the district’s Pre-K program. Four additional classrooms will be added at the following locations:

  • Pre-K 2 at Harmony Pre-K2 at Welti
  • Pre-K 1 and Pre-K2 at Cold Springs

These are in addition to current Pre-K1 classrooms at Welti and Harmony.

According to state data, students who participate in the Alabama First Class Pre-K program are more likely to be proficient in math and reading, with no evidence of fade out of the benefits of high-quality pre-K over time. Governor Kay Ivey’s office announced the funding Tuesday.

“Alabama’s First Class Pre-K has been recognized as a national model for delivering high-quality early childhood education and gives our youngest citizens a strong start to their educational journey,” Governor Ivey said in a state news release. “I am glad to see that even more students will have access to Pre-K next year and look forward to the day that all Alabama families who want Pre-K for their children have access,” she said.
