City of Hanceville recognizes local teen’s efforts in raising awareness for Lyme Disease

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Madeline Hill, 13, was recognized by the City of Hanceville Thursday evening at their council meeting. Hill contracted Lyme Disease while visiting a petting zoo with her family in 2014. Since then, she and her family have worked tirelessly to raise funds for others also suffering from the many effects of the tick-borne disease.
 
Mayor Kenneth Nail read a proclamation on behalf of the city recognizing Hill for her selfless efforts. Hill was accompanied by her mother Becca Hill.
 
Saturday May 15, the organization Hill founded, MadeLyme, will team with national organization Lyme Warrior for the Lyme Warrior 5K to help raise funds for treatment grants. The Lyme Warrior 5K will begin at Hanceville’s Veterans Memorial Park.
