CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Caring for Kids (CCK) is spending April observing Child Abuse Prevention Month–an emphasis on its mission of preventing violence against children. Tomorrow from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., the group, along with representatives of other concerned agencies, will visit Heritage Park for an awareness event and balloon release. Volunteers will place blue pinwheels and decorate the park with blue ribbons.

CCK Assistant Director Nancy Bryant said, “We bring awareness about child abuse; that is the reason we started and that is our mission. If you see blue ribbons tied around town during April, that’s us. We are representing the blue for the bruises on the sweet and innocent babies who lost their life due to child abuse here in Alabama.”

Last year, 21 children in Alabama lost their lives due to child abuse.
