Ruby Mae Stewart Wyatt, a longtime resident of Cullman, AL, and a native of Dozier, AL, passed away on April 9, 2016, at the age of 86.

Ruby attended Dozier High School in Crenshaw Co., AL and was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, where she attained an associate degree in nursing. She and her family lived in several locations in the Southeast, including Atlanta and Tuscaloosa, before settling in Fayette, AL. Ruby was employed for many years at Fayette County Hospital. Her favorite assignments were labor and delivery and newborn nursery, as caring for young families and babies was her special calling.

After retirement, Ruby and her husband Ralph moved to the Hanceville-Cullman area and became members of First Baptist Church of Cullman. She found much joy and self-fulfillment sewing, quilting, crocheting, and gardening. For many years she crocheted and donated caps for countless infants born at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She loved cooking, traveling, taking cruises, vacationing on the Gulf Coast, family get-togethers, and the Auburn Tigers, but most of all she loved her family and friends. Ruby will be forever remembered for her big smile, huge heart, and generous spirit. She was a true lady who will be missed by all those who knew her.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, John Ralph Wyatt; parents, Charles Bartee Stewart and Lillie Mae Stephens Stewart; sister, Betty Stewart Howell; and brothers, Charles B. Stewart, Jr. and Maurice Stewart.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Dr. R. Kurry Wyatt (Karen), Vinemont, AL, and Markel R. Wyatt (Marcia), Mobile, AL; brother, Carlton T. Stewart; sisters, Eunice L. Stewart Lowman and Sarah Helen Stewart Armstrong; grandchildren, Dr. Nathan B. Wyatt (Sharon), Rachel A. Zabierek (Corbett), M. Sage Wyatt, W. Wesley Wyatt, and John M. Wyatt; and three great grandchildren and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to sincerely thank and acknowledge the help, care, and assistance of all the staff at Woodland Haus and Cullman Regional Medical Center.
