CULLMAN, Ala. – Maggie Kathryn Grant, 4, of West Point passed away Friday, March 26 after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. A public visitation and celebration of life service were held Tuesday at Cullman First Baptist Church.

Her mother, Kathryn Grant, described Maggie in a recent interview saying, “She is 4 years old and loves everything Disney princesses. She loves everything unicorns. She is hilarious!” She was also described as the life of the party.

To honor the love, light and joy she emitted, as well as Maggie’s love of rainbows, the family requested that guests wear pastel colors to Maggie’s celebration of life service.

In a Facebook post written by Maggie’s mother after her passing, she said, “Today, we lost a part of us that we will long for until we see her again. Today, our hearts were broken in a way that no person should ever have to experience. Today, cancer might have won the battle, but rest assured–Jesus wins the war.”

Maggie was born Aug. 4, 2016. She is survived by her father Victor Grant and her mother Kathryn Grant; brothers Kyle and Eli Grant; aunts and uncles Chris (Carmen) Lowery and David (Audrey) Lowery; grandparents Melvin Grant Jr., Lori Luckhard, Robert Luckhard, Steve Lowry and Debra Lowry; and great-grandparents Janette Grissom Bright Putman and Melvin Grant, Sr.

She was preceded in death by great-grandparents Earney Gwyn Bright, Buford Lowry, JoAnn Lowry, Janice Calvert, Jean Copeland and Nommer Needham.
