GOOD HOPE, Ala.- The Good Hope City Council moved one step closer to being able to announce one of several new projects currently being planned. The council heard the second reading of a lease agreement for the old Cotton Gin restaurant property located at 123 Lindsey Road.
The lease agreement is with Stash House Properties, LLC, which is currently in the process of applying for a state alcohol license. Mayor Jerry Bartlett said the official announcement will come, “as soon as he knows he can be licensed.”
City Planner Corey Harbison said, “I think the mayor and council’s goal is to get them in and get them established where they can purchase the property from the City. We don’t want to be long–term property owners. That’s the plan.”
The Saints Motorcycle Club asked the council for a one–day special event permit for June 12 for their fifth annual Miracle League Ride. The ride will raise money for those with special needs who participate in the Cullman Miracle League. It will begin at the Elks Lodge and end at the Saints MC property on Doc Clemmons Road.
Last year, the ride generated more than $11,400 for the Miracle League.
The Good Hope Sizzlin’ Seniors will finally be able to resume meeting on March 23 at 9 a.m. The group will meet outside for activities, including bean bag baseball. The City will be cooking up hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch.
Practice has begun for this year’s Good Hope Parks and Recreation ball season. In all, 177 kids registered to play this year. Opening Day is scheduled for April 10 with times TBA.
The Good Hope City Council meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
