Lady Aggies Coach Jeff Daniel reflected on the legacy his seniors are leaving behind and the high examples that they have set for younger players to come.

This group of seniors is not just a group of good players, they’re exceptional leaders. They lead on the field, they lead in the classroom, if I’m late getting down to the field, they’re already leading stretches and taking ownership of the team. This is my first year here, but they’ve been doing that for several years and they’ve taken ownership of the team,” Daniel said. “We’re very senior-led and it shows on the field. They’ll definitely be missed next year and they’re just a great group of girls. They’re high integrity, high character type girls and I couldn’t say anything bad about them. They’re just that kind of group of girls.”

Aggies Head Coach Nick Feldner echoed several of Daniel’s sentiments, crediting this group of seniors for laying a foundation that has the soccer program at Fairview on steadier ground.

“As you can see, we have a big senior class. We’ve had some smaller classes come through and occasionally big classes, but this class has been with us for six years and because of their consistency and everybody knowing what we’re all about, it has fed our program every year. We’ve been able to build into JV teams and bring in those younger players and they know the expectations from our older group that’s been around for so long,” Feldner said. “Because of that, it doesn’t leave us in limbo in terms of wondering if we’re going to play this year or anything like that. You know you’re going to show up in the spring and have a team and a position and it gives them something to look forward to and build on each year.”

Fairview dropped both of its matchups against Priceville Thursday night. The Lady Aggies fell 5-0 and the Aggies came up short against the Bulldogs 8-4. Jesus Avalos scored a pair of goals in the loss and Bryan Ruiz and Adrian Lopez each added goals as well. Avalos finished with a pair of assists in the loss while Brian Pecina and Lopez posted assists of their own.

Fairview is scheduled to host St. Bernard Friday as long as rain doesn’t cancel those plans.
