Hanceville man charged with trafficking meth

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – A Hanceville man has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine, according the to the Cullman Police Department (CPD).

CPD Sgt. Trey Higginbotham initiated a traffic stop on Gordon Lance Winstead, 50, Saturday. Officers AJ White and Kolby Smith assisted.  During the traffic stop, officers allegedly recovered methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The CPD said Winstead was arrested and transported to the Cullman County Detention Center, where he was allegedly found to be in possession of more methamphetamine. 

Winstead is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and promoting prison contraband.

The CPD said Winstead was out on bond on an unrelated charge at the time of his arrest Saturday. He is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center.
