CULLMAN, Ala. – The timeline to select the new superintendent for Cullman City Schools has been adjusted, with finalists to be announced in March 2021. Current superintendent Dr. Susan Patterson is set to retire in July, after announcing the transition plan last year.
The notice of vacancy for the superintendent’s position was posted in November 2020, and was open for applications until a deadline of Jan. 4, earlier this week. The board will now announce the finalists to replace Patterson March 16, allowing board members the next two months to review applications, as well as vet and consider candidates.
An earlier timeline had called for finalists to be announced later this month, but the adjusted timeline allows board members additional time to narrow down the list and decide which candidates will be interviewed. There is no set number for how many finalists will be considered, as that decision falls to the discretion of the board.
Interviews for the final list of candidates are set to take place between March 22 and April 16, with specific times and dates to be announced once the list of finalists is set.
The board plans to announce and approve its selection for the next superintendent on April 20.
